Wisniewski, Barbara J. (13 Feb 1929 - 4 Mar 1946)
Students and classmates of Barbara Jane Wisniewski, 17 year old high school student of the Withee, Clark County, Wis. High School, were shocked as were other friends and relatives, when they learned that the girl had succumbed to a heart attack while awaiting the arrival of the school bus Monday morning, March 4, 1946.
It was known by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Wisniewski and friends of the gril that she was troubled with a heart condition, but she had apparently been in normal health when she left her home enroute for school. She had walked from her home to the waiting place for the buss in the town of Maplehurst, Taylor Co., a distance of about a mile, when she was suddenly felled by the fatal attack.
Immediately upon the arrival of the bus, it driver, Courtland Hamel, made a futile attempt to revive the girl by means of artificial respiration.
Barbara Jane was born on Feb. 13, 1929, and had made her home on the farm home of her parents in the town of Maplehurst for most of her life.
As a student, she won the respect of her classmates and always exerted herself to the best of her ability in participating in school affairs. In addition to her regular studies she was a member of the school chorus.
Funeral services were conducted this morning at 10 a.m. from the Roman Catholic Church at Lublin.
Six of her former classmates, John Ogurek, Pierce Owens, Robert McAdams, Fred Dicks, Warren Hamel and Ray Benet, acted as pallbearers.
