Sturgeon, Belle (19 Dec 1882 - 1948)

Final rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Griebenow Funeral Home for Belle Sturgeon, 65, who passed away Saturday evening at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Johnson, at 300 South Vine St., Marshfield, Wis.

For the past year she had been in poor health and was hospitalized for a long time at St. Joseph's Hospital. Upon being dismissed she made her home with her daughter Beatrice and family, where she was cared for.

Belle Sturgeon, nee Clifton, was a kind, sympathetic and well liked person in this community, having resided in Owen, Clark County, Wis. for 46 years, and prior to coming to Owen she had lived for several years at Withee. She had a wonderful personality, which endeared her to her many friens that now mourn her long suffering and death.

She was born at New Richmond, Wis. on Dec. 19, 1882, and was married to Golden I. Sturgeon at Withee, Wis. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1940.

The Rev. Ronald E. Ortmayer, former rector of St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, Owen, and now of Chippewa Falls, conducted the final rites. Interment was made at the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were: V. P. Barager, Roland Haire, L. W. Cattanach, Ben Bruchert, Henry Mauel, and Harvey Weddig. Flower girls were: Mesdames Jens Miller, All Altenburg, Henry Weddig, R. F. Hughes, Stub Gerhardt, Arnold Hubert, Laura Bulgrin, Neil Haire, M. V. Nason and E. C. Olds.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Beatrice) Johnson, Marshfield, Mrs. Russell (Bernadine) Anderson, Loyal; one son, Aaron, and one grandson, Thomas Sturgeon of Stevens Point.
