Dorothy L. Ehlers
Dorothy Ehlers, age 86, of Neillsville, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.
Dorothy Loretta Ehlers was born August 9, 1917, in Osseo, the daughter of Hiram and Belle (Thompson) Riphenburg. She was united in marriage to Arthur Ehlers on July 22, 1942 in Beloit. They lived and worked in Woodstock, Ill. for the next ten years. In 1952, they moved back to their farm in Levis Township.
Along with her husband, Dorothy farmed and milked cows for over 30 years.
She is survived by her son, LaVere (Mary Bruflat) Ehlers of Neillsville; one grandson, Jay Ehlers of Neillsville; one granddaughter, Tina (Corey) Puzach of Sparta; two step-daughters, Pat (LeRoy) Eddy of Woodstock, Ill., and Beverly (Don Eddy) Eslick of Montfort; seven step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Riphenburg of Neillsville.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1994; her brothers, Nathan and Floyd; her sisters, Mary, Clara, and Norma; and a step-son, Emil.
Funeral services for Dorothy were held Nov. 24, 2003 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke of the Assembly of God Church officiated. Interment was in the Dells Dam Cemetery in Levis Township.
Casket bearers were LaVern Ehlers, Pink Van Gorden, Chris Mazola, Douglas Red Eagle, Bertie Schultz, and Wayne Zank.
