Russell Lyons

Russell J. "Bunky" Lyons, 83, of Neillsville, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, for one hour prior to a 10 a.m. memorial service at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Joseph Henseler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Russell Jackson Lyons was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Neillsville, to Judson and Frances (nee Hartl) Lyons. He attended school in Neillsville, and then enlisted in the UNited States Army, serving in World War II. He married Marcelene Margaret Hannan on June 6, 1949, in Neillsville. They lived in Neillsville for most of their lives. He worked for the Clark County Highway Department as a welder for many years, retiring in 1985. After retirement, he worked at Russell's of Neillsville.

Survivors include one son, Mark Lyons, Ham Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Marcel Lyons, Neillsville, and Jill (Curtis) Johnson, St. Paul, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Katy, Ben, and Emily.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; four infant babies; a half-brother, Leonard Lyons; and an uncle Leonard Hartl.

Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
