BERNARD REIL MARRIED A pretty autumn
wedding was solemnized at the Zion Lutheran church Tuesday,
September 12, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony, when
Miss Edith May Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson, became
the bride of Mr. Bernard Reil, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Reil. Miss
Helen Behrens acted as bridesmaid and the groom was attended by
Clifford Leizielt. The bride was
attired in a beautiful tan fur trimmed suit with brown accessories
and her bouquet consisted of sweet peas, smap dragons and gladioli.
The bridesmaid wore a navey blue fur trimmed suit with black
accessories and her bouquet was the same as the bride's. A wedding
reception was held at the home of the bride's parents after which
the newly weds left on a wedding trip to Chicago and southern
Wisconsin. They will make their home on the groom's farm west of
Colby. WED 50 YEARS--Ben
Reils Mr. and Mrs. Ben
(Edith) Reil of 1552 Brooks Lane, Oshkosh, formerly of the
Abbotsford and Colby areas, will celebrate their golden wedding
anniversary with open house for family and friends from 2-4 p.m.
Sept. 11. Ben Riel, son of
Mr. and Mrs. George Reil of Abbotsford, and Edith Olson, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson, Colby, were married Sept. 12, 1933 in
Zion Lutheran parsonage in Colby. Their only attendants were Helen
Behrens and Clifford Leibelt. Reil owned and
operated Riel Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1973. Mrs. Reil
worked for 25 years for American Excelsior Co. and at the Winnebago
County Department of Social Services until her retirement in
1981. They are active
members of the EAgles and both are past presidents. The Reils enjoy
traveling and spent winters near Harlingen, Texax. They have a son,
Fritz Reil, Elkhart; six grandchildren and three
great-gandchildren. ANNIVERSARIES REIL 60TH Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Reil celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 12. Ben Reil and Edith
Olson were married in Colby on Sept. 12, 1933. They moved to
Oshkosh in 1937. Mr. Reil worked at the Waite Carpet Co. until he
started his own business in 1941. He retired in 1975. Mrs. Reil
worked at the Excelsior Plant and Social Services, retiring in
1981. They have one sone
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Reil; six grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren. They were both
avid bowlers and are past presidents of the Eagles Club. Mr. Reil
also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada. A family reunion
was held in August at the home of the couple to celebrate th event.
Relatives came from Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Alabama, Texas and
Illinois. About 150 guests were present. Dinner was served,
and Mr. and Mrs. Reil were presented with flowers and two
anniversay cakes. The Reils spend
part of the year in Harlingen, Texas, and the other part in their
home on Lake Butte des Morts. Pictured below is
