Kretschmer, Maurice (4 Jan 1869)
Maurice Kretschmer, one of wide awake businessmen, was born at Lincoln, Buffalo Co., Wis., Jan. 4, 1869. He was married to Miss Lena Jahn Oct. 27, 1894 and came to Humbird, Clark County, Wis. in 1901, purchasing the farm then owned by Edgar Houghton located a half mile southeast of town. In 1904 he sold his farm to Barney Rather and opened a furniture store in the old I. O. G. T. building. In expressing his idea of the town's progress he thinks it is due to the push and energy of the businessmen. We compare well with surrounding towns and should have credit for the improved condition of buildings, streets and general prosperity.
