Delong, James C. (16 May 1834)
James C. Delong was born at Rochester, N.Y., May 16, 1834. Previous to coming to Humbird, Clark County, Wis. he lived six years in Canada and nineteen years in Sheboygan Falls, Wis. He was married to Miss Sarah E. Murney July 15, 1859. They came to Humbird twenty-two years ago, living on their farm one and one-half miles northwest, until three years ago when they disposed of the farm and bought property in the village. They have had eight children, but only two arel living. Before coming to this part of the country, Mr. Delong was a traveling agent and since retiring from the farm has followed that occupation. To him the future of Humbird looks very bright and encouraging. The immigration of the German and Swiss people have brought about many changes in the farming country and given new ambition to all lines of business. The people are very benevolent and thrifty and we have a class of businessmen who are doing their best for the improvement of the town. We are better located than any town around here and all that we need is some manufacturing plant that will bring more people here.
