Cole, Lester (5 MAR 1842)
Lester Cole was born in Madison Co., N.Y., March 5, 1842. He came to Wisconsin in 1856 and settled at Pole Grove, Dodge Co. He was married to Ellen Dagen Jan. 1, 1872, and came to Humbird in 1875. There are two children, Alice and Willard. Mr. Cole is a carpenter by trade and still follows his trade during the busy season. As compared with other towns Humbird, Clark County, Wis. is equal and up with the rest. What it needs is a manufacturing plant and an up-to-date stock buyer. Its reawakening is due to the high price paid to farmers for their produce and to the large dairy business. Our town will not take any great jumps but will slowly and steadily increase. Credit should be given for the cheese factory and creamery, also the stores which are always ready and willing to buy any kind of farm produce, making it possible for farmers to market their stuff at all seasons of the year. Mr. Cole has held the office of constable for eight years and has been justice of the peace for two.
