              Orin & Alvira I. (Webster) Wilson

This biographical sketch of our citizens would not be complete without including our town chairman (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) Orin Wilson. He was born in Franklin Co., N.Y., March 9, 1832, and came to Madison, Wis., in the fall of 1855, and the next spring went to La Crosse, staying there until he came to these parts. He was united in marriage with Alvira Webster May 20, 1864. The have had eleven children, al but two of whom are living. He believes our reawakening is due to the dairy business, but that Mr. Babler has helped a great deal, he being the first man that ever came here with wealth and invested it in the town. Many have become fairly rich here and then go away, but Mr. Babler's coming here as he did greatly helped the town. Mr. Wilson thinks the future of the town depends upon the farmers. He says Humbird should have credit for its schools, churches, creamery, cheese factory, bank, printing office and as a rule a good honest community. It is behind some of the towns but is coming up very fast. It needs some factory like a pickle factory or canning factory as this is a great country for cucumbers and tomatoes.

Mr. Wilson has served on the county board for twenty-eight years and has a record of which he May well be proud. He has held positions on many important committees during his long term on the county board.
