Mrs. Elizabeth Jane McMahon died at her home in Town of York, April 28, 1925, after a short illness, a stroke of apoplexy combined with flu being the cause of her death. She was born in Essex County, New York, October 30, 1842, grew up to womanhood there, and was married in 1862 to Joseph McMahon. In 1877 they came west, living in Iowa one year, then moving to Clark County, Wisconsin, where they bought 80 acres in the Town of York which remained their home the rest of their lives. Mr. McMahon died July 2, 1887. She was a woman who was well thought of in the community. She did her full share in the pioneer work of the community, helping her husband in making their home, and assisting when needed in neighborhood affairs.
Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McMahon: Margaret, Mrs. Jack Free, is in China, where Mr. Free has a position; Joseph, who lives on the home farm; William died October 28, 1920; Anna, Mrs. Justin Johnson, died September 18, 1924; John, the oldest son, went West some time ago, and his present location is not known.
