Banker, Eleanor (15 NOV 1831 - 26 Augl 1913)

Another of the old settlers of this vicinity (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) departed this life this week. Mrs. Eleanor Banker died at her home east of town Tuesday forenoon, at the advanced age of 82 years, 11 months, and 27 days, old age and dropsy being the cause of her death. Mrs. Banker, whose maiden name was Eleanor Cook, was born in the state of New York on Nov. 15, 1831. Soon after the family moved to Ohio and then to Indiana. Just after the war they immigrated to Sauk Co., Wis., where the subject of this sketch was married to Mr. Henry Banker, and he and his family settled here thirty years ago. Mr. Banker died sixteen years ago. Mrs. Banker was the mother of six children, only two of whom survive, Mrs. Jos. Delong and Miss Elizabeth. The last days of the mother's life were made happy by the tender care and affection bestowed upon her by these two daughters. Mrs. Banker was an active and energetic woman who sought to make her home the brightest spot on earth for her husband and children, until the circle was broken by death.

The funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church Thursday afternoon and the burial was in the family lot in the Mentor Cemetery, Rev. G. L. Pound conducted the services.
