Hickman, Mary (16 JUL 1845 - 26 Jul 1914)
Mrs. Francis Hickman died at the home of her daughter at about one o'clock last Friday afternoon, after an illness extending over two years, aged 69 years and 10 days. Mrs. Hickman was the third old resident to pass away in a month. Her maiden name was Mary Osborn and she was a native of Indiana. She came with her parents to Garden Valley when a small child. Forty-three years ago she was married to Mr. Francis Hickman, and after spending a short time in Vernon Co., returned to this vicinity (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), which has since been their home. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hickman, two of whom, one son, Adelbert, and one daughter, Mrs. Edith Pierce, with the husband, survive, and who with numerous other relatives and friends mourn her death.
The funeral of Mrs. Hickman was held at the M. E. Church on Sunday afternoon and the services were attended by many of her old friends and neighbors. Rev. G. L. Pound officiated. The burial was in the Mentor Cemetery, in the lot beside the three children who have preceded her to the eternal shore.
