Melcher, Josephine (24 NOV 1849 - 22 JUN 1916)

Mrs. Josephine Melcher died at her home north of town (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) at 2:30 a.m. June 22, 1916, of dropsy, aged 67 years, 5 months and 21 days.

The deceased was born in Gromad, Germany, Nov. 24, 1849. There she grew to womanhood and in 1870 was united in wedlock with Mr. Joseph Koboski. The family immigrated to this country in 1882, and their home was in this vicinity since that time. Mr. Koboski died twenty-nine years ago, and on June 11, 1891, Mrs. Melcher was again married, her second husband being Mr. Nick Melcher, whom she survived eleven years. To Mrs. Melcher were born eight children, three of whom are living. Two children died in the old country and one died at Green Bay while the family was enroute. The surviving children are John Koboski of the town of Mentor, Mrs. Eveline Secor of Gavour, S.D., and Miss Margaret Melcher of Minneapolis. Two brothers live in Chicago, and two sisters also survive, Mrs. Mary Ogurick of Thorp, and Mrs. Noda Polaskey of Eau Claire.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 o'clock this Saturday morning at St. Joseph's Church, Fairview, and the burial will be in the family lot in the cemetery at the church.

I have a question about Mrs. Melcher surviving sister Mrs Mary Ogurick of Thorp. Can you supply any information of her husband's family and if they may be related to my fathers family from New York, Gregory and Rose Ogurick?? Would like any possible information for family tree research project.

I'm looking for information on the Koboski family. I'm trying to find out about my G.Grand parents, all I know is my G.Grandmother was called Kate Koboski and she lived in Fairchild, Wi and died in 1902.  I read the obit. of Melcher, Josephine (1849-1916). Her home town was Humbird,Wi. and she married Mr.Joseph Koboski November 24, 1849 and had a son John Koboski.  My grand parents farmed outside of Humbird,Wi Frank And Avina Koboski.  Can you help me somehow with information on my family or with information about connections to my family?  Ronald Koboski

Antonia, Frank, John Koboski are buried in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Fairchild. This cemetery is on 2nd St. in the village of Fairchild; up on the hill behind the church.
