Viola F. Osowski

Viola F. Osowski, age 100, of Thorp, died at Oakbrook Health and Rehab., in Thorp, on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Viola F. Weslosky was born on Jan. 2, 1903, in Neillsville, the daughter of Martin and Teresa (Kruswicke) Weslosky. She was raised and educated in the Neillsville area, graduating from Neillsville High School. Viola then attended one year of normal school and earned her teaching certificate. She was united in marriage to John 'Jack' Osowski, and after their marriage, they farmed in the Thorp area. Viola taught school in the Thorp area for many years.

After retiring from teaching, she opened Vi's Flower Shop in Thorp. Her husband died in 1984. She lived in Thorp until entering Oakbrook Health and Rehab. in November of 1997. Viola was a member of St. Bernard's - St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and enjoyed dancing, reading, writing, and painting.

She is survived by one son, Galen Osowski, of Chippewa Falls; and one sister, Jean Benas, of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Paul, Stanley, and Nicholas Osowski; three sisters, Gertrude, Isabelle, and Marie.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 26, at St. Bernard's - St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, with Fr. John Puerner officiating. Burial followed in Old St. Hedwig's Cemetery.
