Alvin L. Roehl

Alvin L. Roehl, age 90, 305 South Chestnut Avenue, Marshfield, died on Sunday, Dec. 28, at the Marshfield Center, where he had been a resident since August, 2003.

Alvin was born on May 6, 1913, in Chili, Wisconsin, the son of Herman and Clara (Ackerman) Roehl. He received his education at the Cozy Corner School in the Town of Fremont, Clark County. As a young man, he worked on several farms before purchasing a farm southwest of Chili. On June 19, 1945 he married Evelyn E. Sanger in the Town of Fremont. He farmed southwest of Chili, and then worked 11 years as a machinist at the Berg manufacturing Company, Marshfield, retiring in 1978. The couple lived in Spencer from 1975 until December, 2001, when they moved to the Purdy Building (Angeles Retirement Community), Marshfield.

Alvin enjoyed playing cards, horses, gardening, woodworking, and being Mr. Fix-It. He especially loved his family; children, gradnchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

he is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Marshfield; his children, Sharlyn (David) Pullman of McLean, Virginia, Marlene Broeske of Abbotsford, Lavern (Kathleen) Roehl of Marshfield, and Bernette (Leonard) Allemann of Abbotsford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Angela Keiser, Thomas Pullman, Austin Pullman, all of Virginia, Tara Michalak of Marshall, Brian Roehl of Eagan, Minn., Diane Allemann of Madison, and Beth Allemann of Belleville, Ill.; and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Walter Roehl of Granton, Harvey Roehl of Neillsville, Carl Roehl of Chili, and Leo Roehl of Chili; and his sisters, Vera Carstensen of Marshfield, and Lila Nelson of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Evelyn Roehl, and brothers, Glen and Russell Roehl.

The family will designate a memorial in Alvin's name at a later date.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2003 at the Rembs / Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Karl A. Rose, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, will officiate. Burial will take place in West Spencer Cemetery, Town of Sherman, Clark County. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at Rembs /Kundinger Funeral Home.

Alvin L. Roehl, 90, Marshfield, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the Marshfield Center, where he had been a resident since August, 2003. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 2, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Rembs / Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Karl A. Rose, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, officiated. Burial was in the West Spencer Cemetery, Town of Sherman.

Alvin L. Roehl was born on May 6, 1913, in Chili, to Herman and Clara (nee Ackerman) Roehl. He received his education at Cozy Corner School in the Town of Fremont.
