Putman, John (2 OCT 1850 - 2 NOV 1917)

An old resident of this vicinity (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), John Putman, answered the final summons last Friday afternoon. He had resided at Augusta and on the farm here since 1871.

John Putman was born in Jefferson Co., N.Y., Oct. 2, 1850 and departed this life at his home near Humbird, Nov. 2, 1917.

Deceased moved to Wisconsin in 1869 and was united in marriage to Amanda Nokes in 1871; to this union were born five children, two boys and three girls, one of the girls having preceded him to the Eternal world in infancy. Mr. Putman has been a patient sufferer with the palsy for a number of years, having been practically helpless for the last twenty years. He leaves to mourn his death, a brother, wife, two daughters, Mrs. Emma O'Leary, Mrs. Lilah Schneller, and two sons, Ernest W. and Russell, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, rev. J. K. Peckham officiating. A large congregation assembled to pay a last tribute to the memory of the deceased, a number of relatives coming from Augusta to attend the services. Burial was in the Mentor Cemetery.
