Smith, Minnie M. (14 Jul 1901 - 21 OCT 1918)
Minnie May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Smith of the town of Cleveland, Jackson Co., Wis., was born on their farm on July 14, 1901, and passed away at 5:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, Oct. 21, 1918, of Spanish Influenza. She was, at the time of her death, 17 years, 3 months and 7 days of age. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, besides her grief-stricken parents, four brothers, Arthur of Prescott, Steve, Guy and Meldrum at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Lubinski of Hudson and Maggie at home.
She was conscious to the last, raising her arms for a last embrace of her loved ones. Everything that loving hands could do for her was done, but to no avail. Minnie was of a kind and loving disposition that won her many friends. She always had a kind word for everyone. For the past two years she had attended school in Humbird, Clark County, Wis. and dearly loved her teachers and schoolmates. She suffered through her illness very much, but the end came peacefully. Minnie will be sadly missed by her loved ones.
Burial services were held at the Mentor Cemetery Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. B. Braddock preaching the funeral sermon.
