Geiger, Dorothy G. (31 DEC 1925 - 30 APR 2014)

Dorothy G. Geiger, 88, Loyal, went peacefully to see the Lord and a very special daughter, Cali Sue, on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Colonial Center in Colby. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Steve Brice officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan and Keli Geiger, Luke and Teah Morrow, Luke and Stacy Lindner, and Dylan Geiger. Kayla Geiger was an honorary pallbearer.

Dorothy Gertrude Kroening was born in Edgar, on Dec. 31, 1925, a daughter of Mary (nee Ponzoch) and Joseph Kroening. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Stratford, where she spent most of her young life. She married Leo J. Geiger on April 19, 1944, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Dorothy was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was very active in the PCCW. Dorothy had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, picking cherries, gardening, canning, making jellies, and quilting.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Leo, Loyal; three daughters, Sharon (Randy) Hendrickson, Neillsville, Lavon (Roger Ellison) Lindner, Loyal, and Karen (Edward) Haslow, Garfield Heights, Ohio; five sons, Marvin (Karleen) Geiger, Marshfield, Alan (Carol) Geiger, Fort Wayne, Ind., Vern (Donna) Geiger, Marshfield, Kevan (Michelle) Geiger, Brule, Neb., and Brian (Sarah) Geiger, Loyal; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes Landwehr, Mosinee, Marcy Sitko, Mosinee, and Loretta Masanz, Marshfield; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Gundlach, Marshfield, and Ethel Pupp, Wausau; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carolyn Geiger, on June 27, 2002; her son-in-law, Mike "Hunter" Lindner, on Jan. 8, 2002; four brothers, Bernard, Jerome, Melvin and Leon Kroening; and four sisters, Irene Beyer, Marie Wurl, Margaret Kroening and Helen Dennee.
