Miss Judith Veryhulst, who attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Ia, is spending
a 10-day vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Verhulst.
The 12th annual convention of the Eau Claire conference of the American Lutheran
Church women was held Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
Those who attended from our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood were Mrs.
Ralph Ystad, Mrs. David Wenger, Mrs. Richard Braun, Mrs. Otto Voie and Mrs.
David Danielson.
The Wednesday afternoon club met at the home of Mrs. Don Warner.
Mrs. Donald Decker is a patient at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
St. Ann’s Society met Thursday evening in St. Mary’s Hall with Mrs. Raymond
Gregorich presiding. The Rev. Leander Koopman opened the meeting with prayer.
Reports and comments were given by members who attended the Clark-Jackson
Deanery institute in Willard. The president reminded everyone of the Diocesan
convention at La Crosse on May 1. It was decided to draw names for a raffle at
the next meeting, May 25, with St. Rita’s group; as hostesses. After that the
group will discontinue meetings for the summer. Following the meeting games were
played and a lunch was served by St. Margaret’s group.
The Good Evening Club met Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. John Lindner for
a 6:30 supper. Four cakes were made by members for birthdays of residents in the
Clark County Home for the Aged. Discussed were current events, insurance
policies and other topics. The next meeting is scheduled for June 15 at the home
of Miss Louise Keiner.
The 73rd birthday of Arthur Brick was celebrated April 28 and the 86th birthday
of Carl Wetzel was celebrated April 29 at the Clark County Home for the Aged in
Greenwood where they reside.
The Bridgettes club met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Don Warner.
Mrs. Palmer Vinger spent from Wednesday until Friday in Hudson at the home of
her sister, Mrs. Nell Mason.
Mrs. Amy Hendrickson and Mrs. Esther Dusso are spending a week at the Kenneth
Dusso home in Omro and with Mrs. Donald Dusso at Fond du Lac.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Telford and daughters of Eau Claire were recent visitors at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Dusso.
The Rev. Pacifico Camarin, pastor of Immanuel United Church of Christ, attended
the meeting of the Northwest United Church of Christ ministers held at Ashland.
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Sankey and family of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Scherer
and family and Miss Susan Scherer, who attends the University in Eau Claire,
spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Scherer.
A seminar of United Church of Christ and Presbyterian churches will be held at
the First Presbyterian Church in Wausau Saturday, May 6. A number of adults and
youths from Greenwood will attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerrold Kuester and family of Eau Claire spent Sunday with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cos and Mr. and Mrs. George Kuester.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harp and Harry Richmond of Chippewa Falls visited Viv Carteron
at the hospital in Marshfield and were guests here Sunday at the Lawrence Cox
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Abel and children, Mark and Kay, returned to Kaukauna Sunday
after visiting their parents Gilbert Meyer and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Abel.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Plisch of Athens visited Wednesday at the home of Miss
Louis Keiner.
Keith Stewart of Middleton spent Friday and Saturday here with his father,
Robert Stewart, and with his mother at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, where
she was admitted Thursday.
