Humke, Theodore Henry (1 November 1880 - 28 April 1972)
Theodore Henry Humke, 91 lifelong resident of Greenwood, died April 28 in
Neillsville, where he had resided at Memorial Home since 1966.
Mr. Humke, son of Henry and Anna (Kippenhan) Humke, was born November 1, 1880,
in the Town of Warner. He was married March 31, 1903, to Adeline Fischer in La
Crosse. They settled on a farm northwest of Greenwood. Mrs. Humke died March 29,
1953. Mr. Humke was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and had held
various church offices. He had helped organize the Warner Mutual Fire Insurance
Company and was president and adjuster of the organization for many years. He
was chairman and clerk of Warner Township and clerk of the Decker School.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Irene) Schweinler of Windsor, Mrs.
Fred (Rose) Timmler of Loyal, Mrs. Louis (Cora) Slock of Eau Claire and Mrs.
Willard (Vera) Stafford of Milwaukee; two sons, Harold of Nekoosa and Everett of
Rochester, Mn; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; and a brother,
George Humke of Greenwood.
Funeral services were held Saturday from Immanuel United Church of Christ. The
Rev. Pacifico Camarin officiated and burial was made in the West Side Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Kenneth Steiger, Arvin Liebzeit, Norman Liebzeit, Delmar
Toburen, Arno Miller and Darrel Horn. The Immanuel mixed chorus sang “Beyond the
Sunset” and “He Hideth My Soul,” accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Albert.

William Schweinler, Hastings, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lindner and family, Loyal;
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Slock, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Stafford and family,
Chicago, Il; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Nielsen, Waupaca; Ervin Steiger, Mrs. Henrietta
Counsell and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wagner, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Timmler,
