Granton (11 May 1972)
The W.S.C.S. of the Granton United Methodist Church met last Thursday afternoon
with Mrs. Verla Hales as hostess. Mrs. Dorothy Crandall presented a topic
dealing with drugs and led the devotions. Visitors were Mrs. Eunice Kapfer, Mrs.
Elda Bartz and Mrs. Ed Kleinschmidt.
The W.S.C.S. of the York Center United Methodist Church met last Wednesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs. Nyle Benedict.
Mrs. Myrtie Davis and her daughter, Mrs. Bernard Kitzhaber of Greenwood visited
recently at the new home of Mrs. Davis’ daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
William Wolf and family, at Nekoosa. While they were there, two-year-old Jill
Wolf stumbled on a plant and fell on a broken fruit jar. She was taken to a
Wisconsin Rapids hospital for treatment of a cut above the knee which required
22 stitches to close. Jill’s leg was also put into a cast. Her five-year-old
sister, Emily, who was struck near the eye recently by a B-B gun pellet, is
recovering nicely. The Wolf children visited Satruday afternoon at the Davis
home while their parents attended a wedding.
Mrs. Otto Schmidtke, along with a number of persons from the Sherwood area,
attended funeral services last Thursday in Verona for her niece, Mrs. Robert
Bohman, 21, who lost her life in a traffic accident. Mrs. Bohman was the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arleigh Davis of Verona, formerly of the Town of
Fremont.
York Sew and So Homemakers were to meet Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Rollie
Benedict.
Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Foemmel were their daughters and
their families, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gregurich and Micelle of Madison and Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Mesar, Tracey and Cheri of Altoona. The gathering was in observance of
the Foemmel’s 30th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fero drove to Marshfield Sunday afternoon and visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Riedel.
