Greenwood (25 May 1972)

A parish board meeting was held Wednesday evening at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Officers elected were Victor Wagner, President; Floyd Plautz; Vice president; Mrs. John Zepaltas, Jr., secretary; council members, Mrs. Arthur Bushman, Mrs. William Denk, Mrs. John Gatz, Mrs. Harlan Brux, Al Bushman, Francis Herr, Jr., George Plautz, James Susa, Richard Rondorf, Giles Susa, Frank Arch, Jr., and Reynold Syth.

Viv Carteron, who was a hospital patient in Marshfield for four weeks, was dismissed Sunday. He and his wife accompanied their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Spangler, to Watertown, where he will recuperate at the Spangler and Allison Dittmar homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Verhulst of Sheboygan visited Monday at the Clarence Verhulst home. They brought Miss Ruth Verhulst here, after she spent a month visiting relatives and friends in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan.

Mrs. Avis Smercek of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vollrath and family of Green Bay were weekend guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vollrath.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cox visited in Eau Claire Monday at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs. Jerrold Kuester.

The Adult Fellowship met Sunday evening in Zion United Church of Christ. Group singing was accompanied by Mrs. Adolph Wessel. Mrs. Abel gave a seasonal reading. A discussion was held on carpeting the kitchen floor. Mrs. Robert Schneider was appointed to get information. Mrs. Phillip Vollrath showed slides. Following the program a smelt feed was enjoyed with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schneider and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Vollrath as hosts.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tolaney, Sr., and Mrs. Mary Klune took sister Mary Margaret (Rose Tolaney) back to Baraboo Sunday after she spent a week with relatives and friends in the area. The group also visited at the Dells Sunday.

Lester Carteron and Neal Carteron of San Diego, Ca, are spending some time at the home of their brother, Eugene Carteron and family and other relatives and friends.

The Young Adults of Immanuel United Church of Christ will meet tonight (Thursday) at 8 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Block.

The American Lutheran Church Women will meet today (Thursday) at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Hostesses will be Mrs. Daniel Olson, Mrs. Donald Olson and Mrs. Joseph Morien.

St. Ann’s Society will meet in St. Mary’s hall tonight (Thursday) at 8 o’clock. St. Rita’s group will be hosts. This is the last meeting before the summer recess.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Christie entertained Thursday evening in honor of Mr. Christie’s birthday. Guests were from Loyal and Greenwood.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vogel spent from Friday until Tuesday at Hayward with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pacholke.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Speich of Eau Claire and Mrs. Rose Ludwig were guests Sunday of Mrs. Jake Speich.

Mrs. John Mader and sons, Tom and Todd, of Wisconsin Rapids visited Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Clarissa Steele and with her grandmother, Mrs. Alma Mason.

The Canasta Club was entertained Friday evening at a 6:30 dinner at the home of Mrs. Hazel Helwig.

Mrs. Bernard Vesel has returned to Milwaukee after spending a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vogel, and other relatives.

Mrs. Leota Murphy entertained the Suffragett Club Thursday afternoon.
