Columbia (25 May 1972)

The house wrens are back, loud, clear and bubbling, crusading on the insects.

The American goldfinch (commonly called wild canary) is seen feeding upon dandelion and other weed seeds.

The robin’s nest in the Chinese elm has fledglings in it which are being well-fed and cared for by the parents.

(The Sollberger cat is in jail. He was caught bird-napping.)

A light shower of rain touched some area in Columbia Valley Sunday afternoon but it is very dry and dusty here.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sherman of Altoona visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. William Rieder and Mr. and Mrs. William Sollberger Saturday evening.

Lester Brown and son, John, of Beloit spent the weekend on their lot in Columbia.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Vornholt of Neillsville visited Georgeana and William Schulz Satruday evening.

Leo Sischo was a visitor at the George Mashin home Sunday morning. In the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Olson and daughter, Sharon, of Greenwood called at the Mashin home.

Mr. and Mrs. George Mashin and Tarra visited Mr. and Mrs. George Church in Pine Valley Sunday afternoon.
