Steevens, Maxine "Max" J. (Kelty) (25 MAY 1935 - 29 APR 2014)

Maxine "Max" J. Steevens, age 78, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Tuesday, April 29 at Colonial Center in Colby, under the tender care of hospice.

A funeral service was held on Friday, May 2 at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester, with Pastor Patti Steevens officiating. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester was entrusted with the arrangements.

Max was born on May 25, 1935 in Greenwood, the daughter of John and Mayme (Haupt) Kelty. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1953. Max was united in marriage to Harvey "Bucky" Steevens on June 15, 1959 in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1990.

Max enjoyed cooking, gardening, socializing and helping others.

Max is survived by her three children, Linda (Mike) Hraby of Medford, Lorin (Kim) Steevens of Oshkosh and Lisa (Tom) Waldhart of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Craig, Justin, Ryan, Ashley, Sam, Beth, Jake and Jenna; eight great-grandchildren, Zach, Alicia, Logan, Tanner, Rylee, Laney, Ava and Owen. She is further survived by her sister, Carol Tapia, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Lucille Pitzke of Medford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mayme; her husband, Bucky; her son, Lonny; a sister, Ruth Ann Kelty; two brothers-in-law, Marvin and Jerome Steevens; and a sister-in-law, Gerry Firke.
