Campbell, Melba Jane (18 May 1921 - 7 May 2014)
Melba Jane Campbell, 92, died Wednesday, May 7, at her home in Neillsville.
Melba Jane Boness was born May 18, 1921, in Neillsville to Robert and Mary
(Gorman) Boness. She attended Neillsville Schools and graduated from Neillsville
High School in 1940. Melba was united in marriage to Gordon Campbell Oct. 5,
1940. While raising five children she did waitress work and also worked at Dan’s
Dry Cleaning for many years. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter. She collected Elvis
memorabilia, penguins and eagles.
She is survived by four children, Donald (Shirley Anderson) Campbell of
Neillsville, Diane (Dale) Northup and Judy (Mike) Blackwood, both of Marshfield,
and Pat (Ted) Carter of Colonial Heights, VA; grandchildren, Laurie Carteron,
Gail Campbell, David (Karen) Northup, Duane (Tracey O’Connell) Northup, all of
Neillsville; Lesley Brown, Dawn (Terry) Plath, Denise (Wes) Holford, Darren
(Sarah) Northup, fall of Marshfield; Lisa (Jay) Olson of Chili, Scott (Leann)
Carter, Jason (Lynn) Carter, Becci (Bryan) DeLorme, all of Colonial Heights, VA;
Dustin (Julie) Northup and Mike Cam[bell, both of Cypress, TX, and Aaron (Jenny)
Northup of Queidersbach, Germany. Melba is further survived by 29 great-
grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; extended family members, May Ellen
Campbell and Erika Kurasz; special friends, Pam LeBlanc, Marla Okerglicki; and
caregiver Jennifer Heilala.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son Richard “Shot”
Campbell Aug. 17, 2010.
Funeral services for Melba were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the
Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated. Providing
music was Sharon Bjerke, organist. Visitation was held Saturday from 11:30 a.m.
to 1 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. Interment was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
