Stewart, David E. (Another Local Boy Makes Good - 1933)
The following article was taken from an Oregon paper and David E. Stewart will
be remembered by many local people as he lived here as a boy. He is a cousin of
Eugene McMahon.
:David E. Stewart, formerly active in logging and timber circles, has become a
member of the firm of Russell, Hoppe and Wakefield, Inc. Mr. Stewart for many
years was vice-president and general manager of Crossett Timber Co. and Big
Creek Logging Co., these companies being later merged into the present Crossett
Western Co. He served two terms as president of the Pacific Logging Congress,
organized and was president of the Knappa State Bank and assisted in the
reorganization of the Portland Woolen Mills, of which he is a director.
"For several years Mr. Stewart has devoted much time and study to investments
which, combined with a long and active business experiences, will be of material
assistance to clients. He feels, he said, that the country has passed the bottom
of depressed business conditions and that now is the time for conservative
optimism and courage to grasp the many opportunities in sound securities that
depression periods being out."
