Thomas, Dr. J.R. (Injured - 7 OCT 1933)
Dr. J.R. Thomas, local dentist, was injured Saturday when he was struck by
birdshot from the gun of A.H. Muenchow, principal of the local high school.
The men were hunting together near Willard. Thomas had stooped to pick up a bird
when Muenchow fired at another bird on the wing. Thomas, hidden in some
underbrush chanced to be in the line of fire.
Shot lodge in Thomas' nose, face, chest, arms, legs and right hand. He was taken
to the Greenwood Clinic where Doctors Olson and Gaillardet attended to his
wounds. The shot entered quite deeply and was not removed. Dr. is getting along
nicely.
