Soraparu, Edward J. (20 JUL 1963 - 2 MAY 2014)
Edward J. Soraparu, age 50, of Gilman, passed away on May 2, 2014 in the
palliative care section of Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he had been a patient
since April 26.
Eddie was born on July 20, 1963 to Dorothy (Janzen) and Edward Soraparu in
Chicago, Ill. He attended schools in Hinsdale, Ill., where he lived with his
father and step-mother.
He enjoyed working on and racing the "big irons" in the demolition derbies at
Santa Fe Speedway. Eddie moved around between Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin,
taking on many jobs, his latest being installing vinyl siding.
He married Deb Larsen in 1998 and eventually settled in Gilman.
Recently divorced, his home became the center of what he called "his cast of
characters." Eddie had a genuine love for others and all animals. He liked to
fish and enjoyed his garden and woodworking when his health permitted. His
detailed birdhouses were prized by the family.
Eddie is survived by his step-mother, Carol; three sisters, Michelle and Rachael
Soraparu, and Dawn (Francis) Holland; one brother, John; and two step-brothers,
Stanley and David Wrzosek.
He also had several nieces and nephews who benefited from his care and concern.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, his mother, Dorothy, and a
niece, Dominica Gruer.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, May 13 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic
Church in Gilman, with Father Madanu Sleeva Raju officiating. Plombon Funeral
Service assisted the family with arrangements.
