Thieme, Theresa L. (Hastert) (23 SEP 1918 - 12 MAY 2014)
Theresa L. Thieme, 95, town of Greenwood, died on Monday, May 12 at Golden
LivingCenter in Rib Lake. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19 at St.
Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, with Rev. Joseph Dietrich
officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rib
Lake.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Brian, Tim and Derek Thieme, Eric, Matthew and
Peter C. Kauer, William Barnes III and Scott Scheuer.
Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of
service.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake
assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Theresa Hastert was born on September 23, 1918 in Phillips to the
late John and Mary (Kemp) Hastert. She attended Excelsior Grade School and Buddy
Grade School. Her family moved to the town of Greenwood when she was 12 and she
helped work on the family farm.
On May 13, 1939 in Medford, she married Elmer A. Thieme, who preceded her in
death on June 5, 2002. She was a janitor for 26 years at Greenwood Grade School,
and she was a cook there the last two years and at Sid's Restaurant in Interwald
until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and
she served as secretary/treasurer for 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking,
singing, dancing, playing cards and socializing.
Survivors include two sons, Harvey (Gwynne) Thieme of Withee and Jerry (Gail)
Thieme of Rib Lake; a daughter, Mary Ellen (Ronald) Kauer of Rib Lake; 13
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two
daughters, Patricia Scheuer on February 27, 1984 and Helen Barnes on September
15, 1999; a granddaughter Brenda Scheuer; three brothers, John, Peter and Nick
Hastert; and three sisters, Susan Johnson, Helen Adams and Marie Jerousek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a
later date.
