Lockman, Ward Nelson (10 October 1892 - 9 June 1972)
Funeral services for Ward Nelson Lockman, 79, Clark County native who died June
9 at his home on Rt. 2 Neillsville, were held Wednesday, June 1 4, at 1:30 p.m.
from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist
Church officiated and burial was made in the Columbia Cemetery.
Ward Lockman, the son of David H. and Mary L. (Larson) Lockman, was born October
10, 1892, in the Town of Hewett and was educated there. He farmed in the area
and served on the district school board for several terms. During his lifetime,
Mr. Lockman was also employed by the County highway department, by the Omaha
Railroad and by the Weidenhoff Company. His marriage to the former Ella M.
Baumel took place November 11, 1914, in Neillsville.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Ward A. Lockman, Jr., of
Longview, Wa, and Loren and Glenn Lockman of Eugene, Or; 10 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ward Nelson Lockman, 79, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died at
his home June 9, were held Wednesday, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas
Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated
and burial was made in the Columbia Cemetery in the Town of Hewett.
Pallbearers were Wilson Bohnhoff, Clifford Winter, Leslie Cook, William
Sollberger, William Rieder and Harry Ambelang. Miss Marilyn Galstad sang “The
Old Rugged Cross” and “O Love That Will not Let me go.” She was accompanied by
Mrs. Roger Heineck.
Those from, out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Lockman and Loren Lockman of Eugene, Or, Mr. and Mrs. Ward A. Lockman, Carrie
Lockman and Mrs. Darlene Lewis of Longview, Wa, Ben Larson of Genoa City, Mr.
and Mrs. Everett Gehrt of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marty, David Marty, Miss
Lorie Marty and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cook of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Marty
of Port Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cernick, Miss Susan Cernick, Walter
Gehrt, Marie Gehrt and Mrs. Hattie Haefner of Wisconsin Rapids.
