Kovatch, Michael "Mike" John (18 Sept. 1907 - 13 Dec. 1984)
Owen - Michael (Mike) John Kovatch, 82, Owen, died at 1:11 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, with the Rev. John Steiner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
Pallbearers will be Harold and Dick Laube and grandsons, Randy, Jim, Jeff and Michael Kovatch.
Visitation will be at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, after 4 p.m. Friday with a combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service at 7:15.
He was born Sept. 18, 1907, in Illinois, to Yernie and Mary Kovatch. He married Elsie Novak Mary 11, 1932, in Owen, Wis.
He had farmed in the town of Green Grove for 37 years. He had served as town chairman fro the town of Green Grove for 32 years and also served as assessor. He had also served on the Clark County Board for 29 years. He had received the Outstanding Citizen of the town of Green Grove award in 1985.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus of Owen, Wis.
He is survived by his wife: one son, Dr. Robert Kovatch of Fredrick, Md.; two brothers, Charles of Abbotsford and Fred of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his parents, one son, William, on Sept. 28, 1985, three brothers and two sisters.
