Bauer, David A. (2 June 1953 -27 October 2024)
David A. Bauer, age 71, passed away Sunday October 27, 2024, surrounded by his family. A celebration of life will be held Saturday November 2nd, at the American Legion in Loyal. Visitation will be from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
David was born June 2, 1953 ,to Robert and Elaine Bauer in Loyal. He graduated
from Loyal High School in 1971. David served in the Army National Guard. He
married Irene Schreiner in 1975, and they had 3 children. They were later
divorced. In 1982 David married Susan Genett, bringing 2 children to the family.
Together they had another child and enjoyed raising their blended family
together.
David was known for his strong work ethic which included farming, gas
serviceman, and fireman. He was always willing to give a helping hand. He held
several City Council positions, and was a member of the American Legion in
Loyal. He set off fireworks for the town of Loyal for many years with the help
of family and friends.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, processing meat,
traveling WI, and spending time with family. He enjoyed passing on his vast
knowledge to his children and grandchildren. They knew that if they were
struggling to fix something, they could always call dad/grandpa, and he would
know what to do.
David is lovingly survived by his children-Stephanie (James Weiland) Bauer,
Jessica (Jason) Piltz, Jeremy (Jennifer) Bauer, Phillip (Crissy) Bauer, and
Cassandra (Jonathan) Kasco; Grandchildren- Benedict Thorson, Emma Jo and
Jeremiah Sutton; Dominic (Cassie) Gerretsen, MyKayla (Issiah) Gerretsen, Sarah
Gerretsen, Logan and Hayden Piltz; Preston, Zachary, Aryana, and Silas Bauer;
Skylar Grata, Michaela Lesczykowski, Hannah and Kyan Strey, Beau, Bella, Bryce,
Brooklyn, and Phillip Bauer; Five Great Grandchildren- Morgyn, Cambree, and
Rylann Gerretsen; and Ariella and Riggs Gerretsen; Bonus Grandchildren- Jayden,
Janilee, Jasmine, and Jason Weiland; his Mother-in-law Emily Johnson, Stepmother

David was proceeded in death by his loving wife Susan Bauer, Step-son Jonathon
Genett, his parents Robert and Elaine Bauer, Father-in-law Armin Foth, two
brothers Dennis Bauer and Mark Bauer, Brother-in-Law Michael Foth.
The family would like to send a special Thank You Jessica Koopman for being a
wonderful support as both a family member and an RN. We cannot express how much
you helped us get through the final hours.
Also thank you to Joelle, Mandy, and Chris on the Palliative Care Unit at MMC
for ensuring that dad was comfortable.

Eisentraut, Arne Lee (6 March 1938 – 15 October 2024) With Flag
Arne Lee Eisentraut, 86, of Apache Junction, AZ, passed away at Banner Baywood
Hospital in Mesa, AZ, after a short illness Oct. 15, 2024.
Arne was born to Carl and Doris Eisentraut on March 6, 1938, in the Town of
Grant, where he went to school until the third grade and then moved to the
family farm on Highway 10 and went to school and graduated from Neillsville High
School in 1956.
He served in the Army National Guard. He married Bonnie Jean Krejci in 1957 and
moved to Rockford, IL. They were married 67 years and had two daughters, Debbie
(Merk) Tlusty, Sr. and Dixie (Bob) Oldham-Skroch. In Illinois, he was an
engineer draftsman and loved doing carpentry work.
He returned to Neillsville in 1973, where he joined his father Carl in the
Eisentraut Christmas Tree Farms and built the trailer park along Highway 10. He
also built over 30 cabins and treehouses. He employed many boys from the area to
work in the Christmas tree fields, shearing trees along beside him and his white
German shepherd named Fuzz, which after a day of spaying trees would be green.
Together Arne and Bonnie purchased land in Apache Junction, AZ, where they built
a Spanish-style home where they lived in the winter months and in Wisconsin in
the summer months. Arne loved to paint and was a great artist, also loved taking
his jeep all over the desert, where he took many family and friends. He hiked
many trails in the mountains. Arnie would pick up rocks in the desert and paint
them in his studio of wild animals and family pets. Arne enjoyed reading Louis
L’Amour and James Patterson books. They sold their home in Wisconsin and stayed
permanently in Arizona, only to come to Wisconsin on visits, and is where he
lived until his passing.
Arne is survived by his wife, Bonnie, who was his greatest love; they traveled
to eve3ry state in the U.S., Canada and Alaska; two daughters, Debbie and Dixie,
both of Neillsville; grandsons Jason and Joe (Laura) Cernik and Ryan (Sam)
Oldham;11 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Pat and Ken Christie;
sisters-in-law Mary Eisentraut and Ray Ann Krejci; a half-sister, Nicole
Eisentraut; and 16 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Eisentraut, and Doris Braatz, his
two brothers, James Eisentraut, and David Eisentraut, grandson John Oldham;
son-in-law Dennis Oldham, and two brothers-in-law, Lee Krejci and Devere Krejci;
and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eunice and Rex Krejci.
Arne had many friends in Arizona and Wisconsin, and he will be messed by all. A
graveside service will be held at a later date.

Kostick, Roger Robert (9 October 1943 – 25 October 2024)
Roger R. Kostick, age 81, of Thorp, passed away, at his home, on Friday, October
25, 2024, following a difficult journey with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia.
He will be cremated, and no services will be held in accordance with his wishes.
Roger Robert Kostick was born on October 9, 1943, on the home farm north of
Thorp, in the Town of Withee, to John and Helen (Skwierczynski) Kostick. He was
raised on that family farm and was educated at area schools. He worked at the
Blue Moon Cheese Factory in Thorp for over 30 years. After retiring from the
cheese factory, he worked for Fred Turenne doing handyman work.
On September 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Shirley A. Duda at St. Mary's
Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, and together they raised four
children: Jodie, Tara, Travis, and Alexis.
Roger was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Roosevelt Rod and Gun Club.
He hunted white tail deer in Wisconsin, mule deer in Wyoming, and elk in
Colorado. Roger also enjoyed fishing for all kinds of fish, especially with his
family, usually getting in little fishing himself, as he was always either
baiting their lines or taking catches off the hook for them. He added to the
family coffers every fall, trapping muskrat, mink, and coon. After purchasing
land along the Black River in the Town of Maplehurst, he could be found making
firewood, maple syrup, and enjoying just being on the land making improvements.
Rog was an affable gent, easy to get along with, and he enjoyed many special
friendships.
Roger is survived by Shirley, his wife of 57 years; their four children: Jodie
(Brent) Mallo, Tara (Jason) Cox, Travis (Rachel) Kostick, and Alexis (Dayton)
Wriedt; seven grandchildren: Robyn, Bradly, Sequoia, Chloe, Evan, Elsie, and
Sawyer; five great-grandchildren: Trenton, Kallie, Ariana, Aubrey, and Kinslee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant grandsons: Onyx and Odin;
one sister: Alice "Shirley" Hempelman, and his brother-in-law, Tom Hempelman.

Krejci, LeRoy John “Lee” (27 January 1949 – 8 June 2023) With Flag
LeRoy "Lee" John Krejci, 74, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
Lee was born on January 27, 1949, in Neillsville, to Rex and Eunice (Grosnick) Krejci. On November 1, 1968, Lee married Rae Ann Moen in Wisconsin Rapids.
As a boy, Lee worked at the local co-op with his brother. He was inducted into the Army on May 8, 1969. He was a certified welder and went on to drive semi trucks.
Lee enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and traveling in his free time. During summers, he eagerly embarked on camping trips with his wife and daughters. He also loved collecting coins, tending to his garden, and grilling out-he made the best steaks.
As a grandpa, Lee was very supportive of his grandchildren. He attended many sporting events and taught them how to fish. Each child also looked forward to receiving special coins every visit.
In addition to his wife Rae Ann, Lee is survived by daughters Lisa (Kevin) Kujawa and Kristy Durkes; four grandchildren: Jessica (Ben) Hermes, Taylor Kujawa, Kayden Lane, and Jaxsen Durkes; two great-grandchildren: Skylar Thompson and Asher Hermes; siblings: Devere Krejci, Bonnie (Arne) Eisentraut, and Pat (Ken) Christie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Virginia Moen; and his loyal, rock-eating dog, Joseph Andrew.
Lee's family will miss him dearly. His witty sense of humor and warm-hearted demeanor will not be forgotten. Friends wishing to honor Lee's memory may make a donation to the American Legion or Humane Society of Marathon County.

Timothy J. Anderson, 21, of Rt. 4 Neillsville, drowned while swimming in the Black River north of Neillsville on Saturday, July 19.
Mr. Anderson was born December 7, 1964, in Neillsville, a son of Grant and Dorrene E. (Burt) Anderson. He was educated at Bible Baptist Christian School. He worked various jobs in the Neillsville area for the past few years. He was employed by Oldham Palleting during the last 2 1/2 years.
Survivors include his parents, and two brothers, August and Ricky, both at home.
Gesche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and visitation will be at Bible Baptist Church, Neillsville, one hour prior to 1:30 p.m. services. Pastor Daniel Ehlers will officiate, and music will be provided by Ronald Embke with Pastor and Mrs. Nancy Ehlers. Pallbearers will be members of the church and burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Melchior (Grace M,) Budde, 90, of 1102 E. Kalsched St. died at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at her home.
Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Satruday at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Donald F. Wilger officiating. Helen Brinkmann was organist with John F. Binder as soloist. Buriel was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Pall bearers were Gary, Douglas and Dennis Baird, Edwin and James Meyer, Sr., and Jim Meyer, Jr., all nephews and great nephews.
The former Grace M. Baird was born January 8, 1896, in Clarence, Iowa to George W. Baird and Mabel C. (DeWell) Baird. She received her education in Clarence and was married to Melchior J. Budde October 21, 1915, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Riceville, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Neillsville and farmed until moving to Arpin area in the early 1950’s. There they farmed until her husband’s death, in April 1970. She then moved to Marshfield and has resided there since. While farming she was active in Wood County 4-H programs. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Surviving her are one stepdaughter, Dula Zimmer, R. 2 Algoma; two brothers, Delbert and Richard, both of Marshfield; and two sisters, Mildred Meyer, Marshfield; and Esther Crocker, Madison. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and an infant sister.

Durst, Walter J. (19 April 1896 – 5 July 1986) With Flag
Ninety-year old Neillsville Memorial Home resident, Walter Durst, died Saturday, July 5, at Memorial Hospital. He had been living at Memorial Home during the past two months due to failing health.
Mr. Durst was born April 19, 1896, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, a son of John and Louise (Meyer) Durst. While he was a young boy, his family moved to the Neillsville area, and he was educated in the Town of Hewett. Following his education he worked away from home for several years.
On July 25, 1918, he entered the armed services and as an Army private served in France with M G Company and the 145th Infantry. Following his discharge on April 16, 1919, he returned to Neillsville and began an apprenticeship as a cheese maker.
On June 17, 1920, he married Alma Karnitz at Neillsville. The couple lived briefly at Humbird before moving to Pierce County where he worked for six years as a cheese maker. Returning to Neillsville, he was employed as a butter maker for a city dairy and the Chili Coop. In 1930, he moved to the Town of Warner where he owned and operated the Hemlock Cheese Factory until his retirement in 1945. Moving back to Neillsville, he worked at various jobs in the area for several years. Mr. Durst was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church, Pine Valley and Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post 73.
Survivors include his wife, Alma; three children, Lewis J., Scottsdale, Arizona; Mrs. Dr. Fred (Marjorie) Blix, Zionsville, Indiana; and LaVern H., Northbrook, Illinois; a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Dale (Naomi) Guthrie, Springfield, Oregon; Alvin Durst, Plymouth; and Arno Durst, Neillsville, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Clara.
Visitation at Gesche Funeral Home will be Wednesday, 6-9 p.m., and Thursday morning until 11:30 a.m.; then at Zion American Lutheran Church, Pine Valley, one hour before services. Rev. William C. McGraw will officiate during 1:30 p.m. services and music will be provided by Mrs. Virginia Karnitz with congregational singers. Pallbearers are Lee Krause, Kenneth Kerry, Jon, Robert and Ronald Karnitz. Burial will be in the Town of Pine Valley Cemetery. Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post 73 will conduct graveside military rites.

Handt, Everett (21 February 1923 – 23 June 1986)
Sixty-three year old, Rt. 2 Granton resident, Everett Handt, died Monday evening, June 23, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Handt was born February 21, 1923, in the Town of Grant, a son of Herman and Minnie (Dietrich) Handt. He attended school at Granton High School. On October 27, 1951, he married Elaine Scholz at Granton. The couple farmed in the Town of Grant their entire married life.
Surviving besides his wife are a son and daughter, Jeff of Granton and Tami Handt, Marshfield; and one grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, John.
Rev. Herbert Biermann officiated during the July 25 services at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. Music was provided by organist Caroline Helm and the congregation. Burial was in Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Serving as pallbearers were Vincent Canfield, Vernon Drescher, Dale and Gerald Kuehn, Walter and Mark Hiles.

Mrs. Lydia Hespe of Beverly Hills, Florida, passed away June 28; the day of her 85th birthday, 1986, at Six Rivers Hospital, Crystal Rivers, Florida.
Surviving is her son, Robert Gunder of Charleston, Michigan; six grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters; Mrs. Sophia Hildebrand of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; Mrs. Esther Stellwagen of Beverly Hills, Florida; Mr. Clarence Stiemke of Tomah; Mr. Henry Stiemke of Neillsville; Mr. John Stiemke of Lanon and Mr. Alfred Stiemke of Homosassa, Florida.
Burial took place July 1, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Beverly Hills, Florida. Fero Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Kuehn, Hilda A. (21 February 1909 – 20 July 1986)
Neillsville resident Hilda A. Kuehn, 77, of 221 Hill St., died at her home on Sunday afternoon, July 20. She had been ill for quite some time.
Mrs. Kuehn was born February 21, 1909, in the Town of Mead, to Ernest and Lula (Dary) Kreissig. After her education at the Braun Settlement School, she farmed there for many years. On February 25, 1958, she married Norbert Kuehn in the Town of Hixon. He predeceased her in 1968. For ten years she was employed at Neillsville Memorial Home, retiring in 1969.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Ella) Wiersig, Neillsville; a nephew and niece. She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Helen.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 6-9 p.m., at Gesche Funeral Home and Thursday morning, July 24, at United Methodist Church until 11 a.m. services. Rev. Howard Ott will conduct services and Iris Musil will provide music. Interment will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers ae Donald Welch, Robert Mahanke, Stanley Jankowski, Calvin Mills, Joe Petkovsek and Francis Urlaub.

Malnar, Matt (9 February 1900 – 8 July 1986)
Matt Malnar, 86, of 113 Crocker St., Greenwood, died Tuesday, July 8, at his home of an apparent heart attack
Mr. Malnar was born February 9, 1900, in Gorski, Crollug, Austria, the son of George and Mary (Malnar) Malnar. He came to the United States at the age of four living in Kansas, where he attended school. As a youth, he worked in the coal mines. Later his family moved to Wisconsin. He married Mary Briski on June 14, 1924, in Neillsville. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1974 and their 60th wedding anniversary in 1984. His wife survives.
After their marriage, the couple lived in Chicago, where Mr. Malnar worked as a carpenter and a salesman. In 1936 they moved to Willard, where he owned and operated Matt’s Tavern for 26 years. In 1962, they moved to Greenwood and have resided there since. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus in Marshfield, and the SNPJ Lodge.
Surviving besides his wife and son are two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Rose Marie) Krultz, Neillsville; and Mrs. Robert (Dolores Jean) Zukowski, Thorp, one sister, Mrs. Jack (Goldie) Knaus, West Allis; one brother, Emil, Marshfield; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were July 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, with a son, Chaplain Major Matthew G. Malnar, San Antonio, Texas officiating, assisted by the Rev. Robert Streveler, pastor of St. Mary’s. Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Music for the Mass was provided by St. Mary’s Adult Choir and the Polish Choir from Saints Peter and Paul Church, Independence, WI. Pallbearers were Mike Krultz, Sr., Robert Zukowski. Robert Krultz, Donald Zukowski, David Carriveau, and David Zukowski. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Sherman, Bertha (4 August 1918 – 19 July 1986)
Sixty-seven year old Merrillan resident, Mrs. Harvey (Bertha) Sherman, 202 E. Clark St., died Saturday afternoon, July 19, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.
The former Bertha Laager was born August 14, 1918, in the Town of Hewett, a daughter of Jacob and Arvilla (Jacques) Laager. After attending Hewettville School, she worked in the Neillsville area until her marriage there to George Poertner in 1942. The couple farmed in Columbia for many years until Mr. Poertner passed away in 1967.
Mrs. Poertner resided with her daughter until her marriage to Harvey R. Sherman on July 27, 1969, in Neillsville. For eleven years the Shermans lived in Altoona, but in 1980 they moved to their present home in Merrillan.
Surviving besides her husband are two children, Mrs. Stan (Sarah) Pekol, Neillsville, and Major Ronald Poertner, Woodbridge, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Bert (Anna) Lenz of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mrs. Gladys Johnson, Black River Falls; two brothers, Fred of Eau Claire, and John of Riverside, California; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, two sisters, Minnie and Alice, and a brother Charles.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Donald Neuendorf, were held Tuesday, July 23, at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, at Merrillan. Pallbearers were Andrew Poertner, Elmer Hoesly, Mickey Sollberger, Stan, Michael and Christopher Pekol.

Thompson, Irene E. (8 July 1916 – 14 July 1986)
Irene E. Thompson, 70, of Mondovi, died Monday, July 14, 1986, at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi, where she had lived the past year.
She was born July 8, 1916, in Gilmanton, WI., to Robert and Belle (Brixen) Steinke. She graduated from Gilmanton High School in 1934 and later attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. She married Roy Thompson May 11, 1941. He died June 18, 1982. The couple farmed in rural Neillsville. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood.
Survivors are one daughter, Judith Bergquist, Edmonds, Wash.; two grandchildren: one brother, Arnold, Mondovi; three sisters, Edna Fluekiger, Doris Herold and Ruth Mueller all of Alma; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 18, at the Edison Funeral Home, Mondovi, and at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood, with the Rev. Merrill O. Herder officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vilas and Charles Herold, Lee Fluekiger, Elwood, Dan and Jim Mueller.

Vine, Faith (9 March 1926 – 3 July 1986)
Mrs. Gordon (Faith) Vine, 60, of Rt. 2 Granton, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 3, at St. Joseph’s Hospice Care unit, Marshfield, following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Vine was born March 9, 1926, at Kenmare, North Dakota, daughter of William and Alice (Currer) Griffith. At the age of nine she moved with her family to River Falls where she graduated in 1943 from River Falls High School. In 1948 she graduated from River Falls College with a degree in education.
On June 2, 1948, she married Gorden E. Vine at River Falls, and the couple moved to the “home” farm in the Town of Grant. For several years she taught school in Greenwood and after raising her family, she returned to teaching in the School District of Neillsville. She retired from teaching in 1985. Faith was a member of Unted Church of Christ and was a charter member and served as president of the Neillsville Chapter of P.E.O.
Surviving besides her husband are five children, Mrs. William (Jane) Knoff, of Stillwater, Minnesota; Mrs. Paul (Virginia) Fennema, Kenosha; Paul, of Bayfield; Jeff, of DePere, and Kristine, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. George (Elizabeth) Hansen, West Allis; Mrs. Herb (Jeanette) Houck, Cape Coral, Florida; Mrs. Jim (Mary) Gilman, Glenwood, Minnesota; Mrs. Russ (Virginia) Rehm, Bath, Maine; and Mrs. Wendell (Muriel) Hall, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was predeceased by her parents.
Rev. Mark Voll conducted services on Monday, July 7, at United Church of Christ, Neillsville. Accompanist Eileen Zank was joined by soloist Julie Knoff-Ruka and congregational singers in providing music. Burial was in the Town of Grant Cemetery. John Knoff, Donald Jenkins, E.J. Steiger, Joe Urban, Henry Lukes and Robert Friedrichsen served as pallbearers. Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Weber, Marie V. (24 November 1905 – 1 July 1986)
Mrs. Marie V. Weber, 60, of 1028 Logan Avenue, Sheboygan, died Tuesday afternoon, July 1, at Memorial Hospital there. Born on November 24, 1905, in Neillsville, she was the daughter of Matthew and Anna (Lepke) Resong. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Neillsville High School. In 1923, she moved to the Sheboygan area and on April 14, 1928, married Joseph A. Weber at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1979.
Mrs. Weber was secretary, for three years at St. Anne Christian Mothers, was a life member of the Apostolate of Suffering, held membership in the former Liederkranz Singing Society, serving s secretary of the Auxiliary for 31 years. As a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, she served as financial secretary for 25 years.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph G. of Dallas, Texas; James of Boca Raton, Florida and Robert Phillips of Waukesha; three daughters, Mrs. Darl (Nicki) Schrimpf of Wauwatosa; Miss Florence Weber, of Green Bay, and Mrs. Rose Ann Kasper, of Sheboygan; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Joseph and John Resong, of Neillsville; and Albert Resong of Racine; two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Hoesly, of Neillsville; and Mrs. Anna Hoesly, of Green Bay. She was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 5, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Zillmer, Alfred F. (19 March 1912 - 2 July 1986)
Alfred F. Zillmer, 74, Rt. 1, Fairchild, died Wednesday evening, July 2, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Fairbanks, Alaska. He passed away suddenly while touring Alaska.
Born March 19, 1912, at the Town of Cleveland in Jackson Co., was a son of Ferdinand and Augusta (Kobenic) Zillmer. Educated at Valley View School, he then worked for several years in the Augusta-Fairchild area. In 1929 he began employment at Greunke Dairy and later worked at Spry Elevator in Granton.
He married Marie H. Walk, in Neillsville, on November 2, 1934. The couple moved to Greenwood in 1941 where he worked at Clark Electric Coop until his retirement in 1974. During 1976 the couple moved to their present home in the Town of Cleveland. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 1984. Mr. Zillmer was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Fairchild Lions Club.
Among the survivors are his wife, Marie; three children DuWayne and Robert Zillmer, both of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Kenneth (Karen) Lovstad, Chili; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Berlin, Port Edwards; Mrs. Cora Harrington, Marshfield; Mrs. Melvin (Margaret) Robertson, Osseo; and Mrs. Harold (Irene) Ahlers of Crescent City, California; two brothers, Ernest of Janesville; and Alvin of Osseo; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Gesche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and services were held Tuesday, July 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fairchild, Rev. Merlin Sasman officiated, and Mrs. Doris Sasman was accompanist. Burial was in Gruhlke Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lyle Abrahamson, Emery Habermeyer, Harold Thur, Richard Shong, Charles Will and Gordon Hess. Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Learman, Clarence Liebzeit, John Zagozen, Louis Walde, Leon Kuester, Alex Poznanski, Tony Rychnovsky, He4rman Metzke, and Gordon Bloom.
