Alexander, Birdene (24 Oct. 1882 - 28 Nov. 1962)

Funeral services for Mrs. Birdene Alexander, 80, Owen, who died Sunday at Waterford, were conducted Wednesday at the Hoepre and Kraut Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The former Birdene Ball was born October 24, 1882, in Bloomington and was married there on December 21, 1901, to Ernest Alexander, who died on April 1, 1956. She had lived on a farm in the town of Green Grove, near Owen, since 1923.

She is survived by five sons, Floyd, Richland Center; Cecil, Roscoe and Walter, Owen, and Delos, Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Art (Leora) Lange, Waterford, and Mrs. Jay (Ester) Mellin, Wauzeka; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Ward, Patch Grove; and a brother Clarence Ball, Bloomington.

Pallbearers were Julius Lange, Robert Lange, Charles Witte, Elmer Elstrom, Eddie Karpinski and Henry Scheel.
