Granton Local News

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Garvin and baby Levi autoed down from Loyal Tuesday in response to a telegram announcing the sudden death of his brother, John Garvin, at Spokane, Wash., and took the evening train enroute to Spokane. Granton Locals #1 (11 Jul 1913)

John's father, William Garvin, moved from Ireland to Canada with his parents when four years old. In 1875, he came to Clark County, settling on a farm in York, where he lived until he moved to the village of Loyal in the year 1906. He was married to Miss Sarah Jane Anderson in 1851. To this union was born seven sons, Thomas of Portland, Oregon; William, Ed, and Sidney of Spokane (Washington); Albert of Dawson, North Dakota; Arthur of Baker, Montana; and Fred of Loyal. Two daughters, Mrs. T. J. Pickle of Antigo and Mrs. A. Ross of Pasadena, California. The Garvins were pioneers of the County, having come to the Town of York when it was almost a wilderness.  Obit excerpt from William Garvin.
