Bertha A Stiemke, age 83, of Neillsville Memorial Home, died in the Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 8, 1985.
Bertha was born on August 4, 1901, in Rhinelander to Andrew and Minnie (Thelke) Mohr. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to the Town of Pine Valley. After her education she worked at the Merchants Hotel in Neillsville, Wis. In her later years she worked at the Model Laundry for many years. Neillsville Memorial Home had been Bertha’s home for the past 5½ years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
On September 24, 1924, she married Clarence Stiemke in Town of Pine Valley ceremonies. The couple farmed in the township for several years. The couple later divorced.
Surviving her are two daughters, Florence (Irvin) Moore of Montana and Arizona, and Lorraine (Robert) Gaylord of Florida; a sister Marie Mohr, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bertha in death are her parents, one child in infancy, brothers, Christian and Fred Mohr, and a sister Johanna Mohr as a young child.
