Knudsen, Warren I. (24 APR 1920 - 3 OCT 2005)

Warren Ivan "Bud" Knudsen, 85, Neillsville, formerly of Willard, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner.

Warren Ivan Knudsen was born April 24, 1920, in Guthrie County, Iowa, to Andrew and Rosie Knudsen, and was raised on the family farm near Coon Rapids, Iowa. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 4, 1942, in Des Moines, and served in the European Theater of World War ll in five combat campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 24, 1945. He was always extremely proud of his service to his country.

He married Betty Johnson on Dec. 5, 1946, in Audubon, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa until Dec. 5, 1958, when they moved to Willard. They operated a family dairy farm until his retirement in 1982. They remained on the farm until 2002, when they moved to the County View Apartments, Neillsville, Wis.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, Neillsville; two daughters, Rosalie Wiand, Pulaski, and Wanda (George) Eitland, Green Bay; five sons, Douglas (Diane) Knudsen, Durand, Larry (Donna) Knudsen, Willard, Craig (Debra) Knudsen, Wausau, Curtis (Sandra) Knudsen, Wausau, and Paul (Tami) Knudsen, Wyoming, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Scott (Kay) Wiand, Trent (Jenni) Knudsen, Kendra Knudsen, Crystal Knudsen and Cassandra Knudsen, Leo Knudsen, Ryan Knudsen, Michael Knudsen and Cassandra Knudsen; two great grandchildren, Haylee Knudsen and Kelsey Knudsen; one brother, John (Irene) Knudsen, Audubon, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Knudsen, Coon Rapids, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Nels Knudsen, Leonard Knudsen and Lester Knudsen; and one sister, Gladys Miller.

Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
