Spieles, Jesse Julius (15 March 1900 – 5 August 1979)

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, august 8, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville for Jesse J. Spieles, 79, of Neillsville. Mr. Spieles passed away, August 5, in the Neillsville Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. With the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating, burial was made in the Evergreen Cemetery in Medford.

Spieles was born on March 15, 1900, in Sheboygan to Peter and Martha (Braatz) Spieles. As a young boy, he moved with his parents to Westboro, where he received his education. Later he attended a dairy school in Madison, taking a course in cheese making. In 1921, he married Lenora Mathey in Medford ceremonies. She passed away in 1968.

The deceased worked as a cheesemaker in Miladore, Poynette, Stevens Point and Rudolph before purchasing the Beaver Cheese Factory in Loyal in 1930. He operated that dairy production facility until 1944 when he moved to Marshfield and was employed by Parkin-Dairy and Badger State Fixtures until retiring in 1965. In 1972, he moved to Neillsville after marrying his second wife, Alice Grap in Neillsville ceremonies.

Surviving him besides his wife is one stepson, Wayne Grap of Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Lila) Smith of Hemet, Calif., and Mrs. Viston (Flora) Zentner of Westboro; one brother, Cyril Spieles of Louisville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death besides his first wife, was one brother, Herbert.

He was a 32nd degree mason associated with a Loyal Lodge.

Spieles, Jesse Julius (15 March 1900 – 5 August 1979)

Funeral services were held for Jesse J. Spieles, 79, on the afternoon of August 8 from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ, Neillsville, officiating, and burial was made in a Medford Cemetery. “Lead Kindly Light” and “Abide With Me” were the musical selections offered by Mae Peters and Vanita Volkert.

Serving as pallbearers were Henry Lukes, Alfred Kleckner, Fred Stelter, Earl Bruhn, Ben Schwellenbach and Herron Van Gorden.

Attending the funeral were friends and relatives from the communities of Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls, Mequon, Westboro, Medford, Waupaca, Madison, Clam Like, Two Rivers, Stevens Point, Arpin, Wis. Rapids, Verona, Warrens, Menasha, Sheboygan, Weyawega, Spencer , Withee and Oregon.
