Fischer, Arva (1 July 1924 - 7 Oct. 2000)

Unity - Arva Fischer, 76, Unity, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at her home under the care of Ministry Home Care.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery in the town of Colby, Clark County. The Rev. John Clasen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Travis Hardrath, Troy Hardrath, Tyler Hardrat, David Wescott, Lyle Kasper and Bill Gosse.

Visiation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home in Colby and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church in Unity.

Arva was born July 1, 1924, in the Town of Unity, Clark County, to Leo and Ella (nee Molle) Duvall. She was a 1942 graduate of Colby, Wis. High School. Arva and Donald Fischer were married Feb. 5, 1944, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. He died Feb. 22, 1997. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Arva is survived by her daughter; Linda Fischer of Unity; her sons, Jerome (Connie) Fischer and Larry (Renee) Fischer of Chippewa Falls; her granddaughter, Sheri (Dennis) Rieck; her great-granddaughter, Katilyn; and great-grandson, Colten; and her sister, Irene Scheer.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters and two brothers.

Arva’s family would like to thank the nurses and aides from Ministry Home Health, especially Liz and Sandee. A special thanks to her caregivers, Ruth Graffunder and Charlene Nelson. Without their care and love Mom couldn’t have spent the last year of her life at home surrounded by family and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church Handicap Access Fund.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
