Verna Payne, age 90, passed away Oct. 6, 1996, at Memorial Nursing Home, Neillsville, Wis.
Verna was born at Fond du Lac, May 9, 1906 and came to a Christie area farm as a child with her parents, Rudolph and Anna Schaele. She married Wesley Payne on March 4, 1925 and resided in Neillsville most of her life, working for Schultz Bros Store for 38 years.
Surviving her are three sons; Myron, Earl and Merlin; two daughters, Eunice and Norma, 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, parents and three brothers.
No service or visitation will be held. Graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19, at the Neillsville City Cemetery.
