Careta J. McGlone, 80, Greenwood, formally of Royal Oak, Mich., died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, in the Rose Chapel at Roseland Park, Berkley, Mich.
Careta Jane Alsup was born on April 12, 1926, in Ferndale, Mich., to Leslie H. and Edith (nee Grainey) Alsup. She was raised and educated in Hazel Park, Mich., where she graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1942. She married Alva V. McGlone on Sept. 7, 1942, in Pontiac, Mich. She spent her life making a home for her husband of 63 years, Al, and raising their two children in Royal Oak, Mich. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Kenton, Mich. Where they restored an 85-year-old farm.In 2000, they moved to Greenwood, to be near their daughter, Vicki, and her family. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, beloved mother and grandmother, and is survived by a loving family and many good friends. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed being a homemaker, antiquing, shopping, going out to lunch, crocheting and sewing. She was happiest when she was refinishing, redoing, or creating something for her home or family.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Al, Greenwood; her daughter, Vickie (Daniel) Santti, Greenwood; four grandchildren, Jason, John, Marlena and Julie; one sister, Rosalie (Milford) Parrish, Lake Orion, Mich.; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Ron McGlone, on Nov. 16, 2001; and two brothers, Leslie Alsup and James Alsup.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements
