Eva Christie

NEILLSVILLE - Eva Sophia Christie, 89, of Neillsville died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Funeral services for Eva will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.

She was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Greenwood to Herman and Anna (Switzer) Kalkofen. She was united in marriage to Eugene Christie on Nov. 20, 1939, in Greenwood. Eva then began teaching at the Happy Hollow Grade School north of Neillsville, Wis. Eva taught there for many years, and during her tenure taught all the grades in the school. She next taught at the Greenwood Public School, retiring in 1978. Eugene died Nov. 22, 1980.

She is survived by three sons, Richard (Norman Kay) Christie, Neillsville, Kenneth (Patricia) Christie, LaCrosse, and Larry (Sally) Christie, Madison; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Eva is also survived by one sister, Lila Thoma, Wisconsin Rapids.
