While going through the woods north of the cemetery Sunday evening, Fayette Didrick came suddenly upon four bears, one of the bears, an uncommonly large one stood his ground. Dedrick fired three times wounding the bear in the back, smarting with pain the bear started for Dedrick, who, having exhausted his ammunition, turned and fled, the bear pursued and nearly over taken Dedrick, when Elmer Warner came to the rescue and killed the monster.
