We wonder how many of our readers are “in the know” about our “Mim” Shanks? She sure pulled a fast one when she came home for her Christmas vacation accompanied by her fiancé J. Synder of Texas and North Dakota. They drove to Enid, Oklahoma, leaving here Sunday morning and were married at his sisters Christmas Eve. They got back here again in time for “Mim” (1920) to resume her duties at Wabeno schools—and—we’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that half of you readers are getting your first inkling of the affair right now! It’s all right Mim—if you don’t want any fuss and feathers when you get married, have it your own way. “May you have just enough clouds in your life to make you enjoy the sunshine.” A long, happy and prosperous married life—and how about b ringing him to the ’42 banquet and letting us meet him? Mabel says “that by a lucky break she had the pleasure of entertaining you folks at dinner the night before you left on the eventful journey and that she came out of the experience with the idea that he was “a fine fella” so we’ll be expecting to meet you both May 30th at the H.S. Gym.

GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL AND THE NEW $60,000.00 ADDITION
Because of the increased enrollment from year to year, more courses were added and more improvements were made until it became necessary to enlarge the school. The addition is our grand, new auditorium. The main attractions in it are the beautiful gym and stage. There are also dressing rooms, showers for girls and boys, a recitation room and a farm machine shop. The stage has a wine colored curtain with the monogram “G” on it for which we are indeed proud.
The project was started December 5, 1938 and was completed on August 18, 1939. The total cost amounting to approximately $56,484. The auditorium will be open for the public with an appropriate dedication and program Friday evening. The school board consists of H.R. Baird, director; D.A. Armstrong, clerk, and William Steiger, treasurer. The faculty consist of O.P. Deuel, principal and the following high school teachers: R.W. Schwahn, L.G. Hinkle, A. Heinze, G. Crowley, B. Bienfang, R. Sell, M. Kelly. The grade teachers are: H. Jacobson, R. Clark, L. Bartz, and A. Jacobson.
We the students of the Greenwood High School, express our appreciation to the City of Greenwood for this lively building and all of us are eagerly looking forward to the many activities which will be held in it during the course of the year.

GREENWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL IN READINESS FOR OPENING SEPT. 3RD
The finishing touches have been done on the school house floors, the windows have been washed and new books are in readiness for the opening of school next Tuesday at nine o’clock. The forenoon of the opening day in the high school, will be devoted to registration. Regular classes will be held in the afternoon. All classes will meet on the first day for half of the usual class period. A delay has occurred in the changes being made in the Home Economics Department, caused by difficulties in the heating arrangement for the new Home Economics room. However, it is hoped that this room will be ready for occupation before the end of the first week of school.
The school faculty for this year has been completed. Orville Deuel of Greenwood, will again be Principal. The High School faculty will consist of Miss Bertha Bienfang, of Fort Atkinson, English and Latin; Miss Lorraine Sell of Glidden, Home Economics; Miss Beulah Griswold of La Crosse, English, and history; Glen Crowley of River Falls, social science, Robert Davenport of Greenwood, Agriculture; Donald Moore of Darland, science and athletic coach; Harvey Williams of Plamyra, Commercial; and M.G. Hamel of Arpin, band.
The Grade School faculty will include Miss LeNore Bartz of Granton, Grades 1 and 2; Miss Avis Jacobson of Madison, Minnesota, Grades 3 and 4; Miss Ruth Peterson of Prescott, Grades 5 and 6; Howard Jacobson of Greenwood, Grades 7 and 8.
Additional tools have been purchased for the new farm shop which was used for the first time last year. With the additional tools and equipment, the Greenwood High School Farm Shop will be an outstanding class room. The purpose of the farm shop is to teach boys and girls (if they wish) the mechanical skills connected with farming.
