Hertz, Augusta (25 FEB 1897)
Married at the parsonage of St. Kilian’s Church, by Rev. Adolph Miller, Thursday evening, Feb. 25th, 1897, Mr. Frank Firnstahl and Miss Augusta Hertz, both of Colby, Clark Co., Wis.
The groom will be recognized by his many friends as our enterprising boot and shoe merchant and worthy city treasurer. The bride is the daughter of Carl Hertz of the town of Colby, and sister of John Hertz, proprietor of the Colby House. Both are among the very best of our young people.
The wedding was intended to be strictly private, none but the contracting parties and necessary supporters being present at the ceremony, but the band boys caught on and made up their minds to spring a surprise on their leader, as he was evidently at attempting to spring one of them. They got together with their instruments, and about the time the wedding party arrived at the Colby House, they were greeted with a burst of music. Of course the boys were invited to and all hands made merry until the wee small hours.
That this couple may live a long, prosperous and happy life is the expressed wish of a host of friends and the Phonograph "auch."
