Violet H. Kersten

Violet H. Kersten, Phillips, died in the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Sept. 26, 1999, at the age of 88. Funeral services were held on Sept. 29 in Our Lady of the North Catholic Church, Phillips, with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment was in the St. Patrick's Cemetery.

She was born Violet Jens, the daughter of Harry and Bertha Jens, on May 1, 1911, in Green Grove. She was a 1921 graduate of the Unity, Wis. High School in Unity, Wisconsin. She was married to Paul H. Kersten in Milwaukee on May 29, 1935. They lived in Colby, then moved to Illinois and Delaware before retiring in Phillips. She was a member of Our Lady of the North Catholic Church since 1969, and a member of the Merry Homemakers Club. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and crafts.

She is survived by one daughter, Polly Anderson of Phillips; one son, Philip (Gail) of Phillips; two grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Natasha and Sheila, and one brother, Lester (Wanda) Jens of Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on April 22, 1970; and by two sisters, Esther and Pearl.

The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips was in charge of the arrangements.
