Erich Froebel
Erich Ginder Froebel, 84, of Beloit, passed away Oct. 20, 1999, in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1914, in Unterwirbach, Germany, to Albin and Aurelia (Bahring) Froebel. At age nine, he moved with his family to Beloit, where he graduated from Beloit High School in 1934.
Erich married Leola Wilson in Freeport, Ill. in 1938. After their marriage, he worked for a time at Fairbanks Morse doing masonry work. Later he and Leola farmed in the Dorchester area before moving back to Beloit, Erich and his brother Fritz formed the Froebel Brothers construction business and built many brick homes in Beloit. They also constructed and operated the Pines Motel in Minocqua. Although officially retired, Erich kept busy maintaining his various rental properties.
Erich is survived by his son, William (Rebecca) Froebel and daughter, Sue (James) Faris; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a sister, Margaret Chotoff, of Dorchester, Wis.
Erich was preceded in death by his wife, Leola; his parents, Albin and Aurelia Froebel; his brothers Max, Hans, and Fritz; and sister Martha. Funeral services were held Oct. 25, in Beloit. Burial took place Oct. 25, in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, Ill. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
