Hecker, Adam (29 SEP 1814 - 13 OCT 1900)
Died, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. Herrmann, in the town of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 13th, 1900, after a very short illness, Mr. Adam Hecker, aged 86 years and 14 days.
Adam Hecker was born at Gross Neu Hausen, Saxony, Germany, Sept. 29th, 1814, where he was united in marriage with Louisa Karpe, Feb. 14th, 1838; with his family he came to America, and direct to Wisconsin in May 1871, locating at Plymouth, Sheboygan Co., where he resided until March 1899, when he came to Colby, and here has made his home with his son Albert, in this city, with one or the other of his daughters, Mrs. Albert Elchlepp and Mrs. Gustave Hermann, in the town of Colby, going or coming as he desired.
In February 1888, he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding, and two years later, or in 1890, she preceded him to that home beyond. He was a kindly old gentleman, much loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn him, three sons and two daughters. Those mentioned above, and two sons at Plymouth, also 31 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The remains were taken to Plymouth Monday, accompanied by his grandsons, Wm. Herrmann and Hugo Elchlepp.
