Laabs, Lydia (14 Feb. 1876 - 1962)

Curtiss - Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Green Grove for Mrs. Lydia Laabs, 86, who died Monday. The Rev. Howard Timmermann officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Howard Timmermann sang "Asleep in Jesus" and the Ladies Aid of the church sang "Abide With Me." They were accompanied by Mrs. Elaine Boss.

The former Lydia Sommer was born Feb. 14, 1876 in Sheboygan County. She came to the town of Green Grove with her parents in 1880 and settled on a farm here. She was married on Aug. 25, 1898 to Ernest Laabs who died Jan. 26, 1908.

Surviving are a son, Walter; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Glenzer, both of Owen; six grandchildren, a brother, Theodore Sommer, Unity, and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Pauline) Woik, Owen, Wis.
