Heinlein, Marie (15 JUN 1818 - 26 JUL 1901)
Died, at her home, corner of Clark and Second St.., on Friday, July 26th, 1901, of partial paralysis and exhaustion consequent upon old age, Mrs. Marie Heinlein, aged 83 years, 1 month and 14 days.
Marie Martienssen was born in Schwerin, Mecklenburg, Germany, June 15th, 1818. She was united in marriage and lost her husband while yet living in Germany; she came to America with relatives in 1848, and with her daughter located at Dubuque, but spent a great deal of her time with relatives in Sheboygan Co. She came to Colby in 1890 and made her home with her niece, Mrs. F. Bredemeyer, until she purchased the property at the corner of Clark and Second St., where she has since lived.
About six weeks ago Mrs. Heinlein suffered a stroke of paralysis, partially paralyzing the right limb, making her nearly helpless. On account of her extreme age she was unable to recover and kept slowly sinking until death came to her relief, Friday evening.
Mrs. Heinlein was a kind, genial old lady, loved by all who became acquainted with her, and she was an especial favorite among the children, for whom she always had a smile and a kindly greeting.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from St. Johannes Church, Rev. E. Herman officiating, and was largely attended.
