Taylor, Betsy A. (4 FEB 1821 - 27 AUG 1902)
Died, at her home in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Aug. 27th, 1902, of apoplexy, Mrs. B.A. Taylor, aged 81 years, 7 months.
Betsey Ann Miller was born Feb. 4th, 1821, at Windsor, N.Y., and on Aug. 5th, 1838, was married to Joshua Traviss. Five children were born to them, one of whom is still living, H. H. Traviss of Hancock, Wis. On July 12, 1852, she was united in marriage with Nehemiah Taylor and to this union five children were born, four of whom survive her, H.L. of Delano, Calif., James B. of Fairchild, W.D. of Dubuque, Iowa, and Mrs. Ed Wilkins of the town of Hull, Marathon Co.
Mrs. Taylor was one of the pioneer settlers of Colby, having come here in Nov. 1874, and she came into this state when the railroad only went as far as Madison.
The funeral was held from the M.E. Church Friday afternoon, Rev. E.G. Vischer officiating, and the remains of the kind old lady were laid to rest in Colby Cemetery.
